Nova Scotia is situated on the east coast of what is known today as Canada. It consists of two parts: the mainland part of the province which is connected to the North American continent by a narrow isthmus and Cape Breton Island now joined to the mainland by a causeway. Nova Scotia’s position on the Atlantic seaboard made it an ideal area for colonizing by both the French and English and the area changed hands several time in the 18th century....
