Background

Concern was expressed about the lack of new bagpipe makers coming onto the scene and it was asked what the Society do to help. Being a professional, full-time maker is something that’s not possible for the majority of keen pipe makers, with many choosing instead to make (or dream of making) instruments on a part-time basis or as a pastime. But this can sometimes be a lonely and frustrating path, with few places or people to call on for advice and guidance.

The result is the Forum.

Join up if you wish to join in with, or simply follow, discussions on making and the wide range of tangents that can come from this. Boring tips, reeds, problems, design, reeds, issues, jigs, tools, reeds, techniques, wood choice, finding good leather, valves, reeds, balancing drone pressure… the list of topics is endless! But you can also ask about reeds!

Can also be used for general bagpipe discussion and that is all down to you… the members!
