On Friday, December 5th, Uilleann pipe maker, Andrea Morandini passed away at just 66 years of age.
His death shocked the Italian piping world, where he was a well- known and respected figure.
Although his father, an engineer, was from Brescia, by chance he was born in Oviedo, Asturias because his parents were away on business. His mother was an engineer too, the first woman in Italy to graduate in mining engineering. Andrea lived in Portugal for some time before settling back to Italy in the ’90s, when I met him first.
