The start of another year and the first edition of a very special anniversary – the 40th year of The Bagpipe Society! This is quite remarkable and the fact that it is still a thriving society, active across the world, is all down to you – the members. I don’t think that when a small group of people, spearheaded by Judy Rockliffe and Dave van Doorn, decided to start the society, they could have had any idea that it would grow into the organisation that it is now – and to still be going 40 years later! There are a number of current members who were part of that initial cohort – perhaps we should initiate a long service medal?! There will, no doubt, be a celebratory air at this year’s Blowout and details of the event are laid out in this edition. Kirsten has created what promises to be an amazing weekend and I recommend you put the dates in your diary now.
