Eric Montbel
Within just a few months we have lost several great musicians and founders of folk music in France: Erik Marchand in Bretagne, Jean-Marie Carlotti in Provence, Gabriel Yacoub who passed away in January. And now, Jean Blanchard, who died on the 28th October. These two last musicians knew and respected each other very well and they had also worked together.
But it was especially with Jean that I shared a love for the bagpipes of France. I would like to talk mainly about Jean the piper here because this might be of interest to the readers of Chanter magazine.
