Why do we want to measure a bagpipe chanter accurately?
This article is about the methods that I am currently using for measuring my chanters. For those of us who are insane enough to desire to make uilleann pipes, or any other kind of bagpipe, or any woodwind, for that matter, why go to such lengths to measure them inside and out? We do it for two purposes. First of all, we measure instruments that we like to be able to make an accurate copy, and second, we makers can measure what we make, in order to control the quality and consistency of the product.
