Guide to the English Greatpipes

2 drone “English Great Pipes in High D by Julian Goodacre, made from English damson wood, modelled on an illustration of The Miller from Chaucers Canterbury Tales (Ellesmere Manuscript 1440’s)

The English Greatpipe was developed by Julian Goodacre and has the external features of Chaucer’s miller’s bagpipe. There are no surviving historical instruments. They are made in a variety of pitches and work well in harmony. They have a bright, stiking presence and a unique sound, which the miller would probably recognise!
