The Bagpipe Society

Medieval Music in the Dales

2nd- 4th September 2016, Bolton Castle, Wensleydale - Box Office Now Open!

Medieval Music in the Dales is the new medieval music festival being organized by medieval minstrels, Trouvere. Bagpipes are a really important part of the event and we are immensely grateful for the support of The Bagpipe Society, who are funding Danilo Turchetti (Musica Inspirata) to exhibit his magnificent medieval bagpipes at the festival. It was our first bit of funding and cheered us on enormously as we planned the event! We are delighted to be able to bring Danilo along, having admired his bagpipes since we first heard the sonorous G-drone of his great pipes booming through the trees at Chateau d’Ars five years ago…

There will be plenty of bagpipes to be heard over the weekend. Tom Hughes will be providing Beginner Bagpipes workshops and Paul Martin will be leading a Medieval Bagpipes workshop (this one is now fully booked). There’ll also be a great variety of pipes to be heard — border pipes, great pipes, small pipes, gaidas, zampognas and bots d’Aran — at the concerts and on the open stages. Jim Parr is also taking part in the luthiers’ exhibition with his amazing array of pipes and shawms… lots of bagpipe delights all round plus of course all the other luthiers, instruments and performers. There are 20 bands and soloists performing plus plenty of informal music-making. It’s an event not to be missed.

Our online box office is at http://www.thelittleboxoffice.com/trouvere. One and three day options available from as little as £25.00. £55.00 for the weekend, which includes at least five workshops or daytime concerts.
